Table des matières

The utility segment is increasingly popular with quad riders for two reasons. The extreme comfort provided by the top-of-the-range versions, and their ability to tackle the toughest jobs in rough terrain. When the day’s work is done, you’ll be able to enjoy exploring the trails or visiting your neighbors.

Some of the models in this top 5 list will not be accepted on Quebec federated trails, for a variety of reasons. Either the weight of the machine exceeds the regulatory standard of 950 kg, or the displacement exceeds the maximum 1000 cc. We’ll stipulate the restrictions in our description of the following choices.

Number one: Polaris Ranger XD 1500 2024

Polaris Ranger XD 1500 2024: Top Utility UTV for 2024
2024 Polaris Ranger XD 1500: High-Performance Utility Vehicle

Polaris loves to dominate, and with the creation of the Ranger XD 1500 it has succeeded in doing just that in the world of utility vehicles. This creation is simply devilish and is aimed at consumers who take work to heart with excellent comfort. Capacities approach those of a compact van.

Engine and transmission:

The all-new 1.5-liter 1498 CC engine is a three-cylinder unit fed by electronic fuel injection. It develops 110 horsepower with a hefty 105 lb-ft of torque. To harness all this power, Polaris has fitted the new SteelDrive transmission with a steel belt. It’s liquid-cooled and completely sealed to ensure longevity. It is electronically controlled according to sport, standard or towing modes.

Interior:

The interior of the Ranger XD is extremely spacious, making it the most comfortable Ranger ever offered by Polaris. The bucket-style seats are very comfortable and can be adjusted to different positions to suit your preferences. The center console is similar to that found in a pickup truck. The steering wheel is height-adjustable and telescopic.

Load and towing capacity:

The Ranger XD 1500 is a workhorse, capable of carrying 1,500 pounds in the rear bed alone. That’s impressive and unprecedented. Got a trailer to pull? No problem! With a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, it’s perfect for this task without any difficulty.

In conclusion:

The Ranger XD 1500 is available in 3-passenger and 6-passenger versions, and in a range of models from basic to fully equipped. The deeper your pockets, the more luxurious and comfortable your Ranger XD 1500 will be. To give you an example, the initial P.D.S.F. is $38,269.00 and the most equipped will reach $64,569.00 for the Crew NorthStar Ultimate version. Before you invest that kind of money, keep in mind that this model is banned from federated trails for two reasons: its 1120 kg weight and 1500 CC engine. For farm work, hard-to-reach construction sites, hunting or other uses, you’ll have the ultimate in your hands.

Number two: Can-Am Defender Limited

Can-Am Defender Limited: Premium Utility UTV
Can-Am Defender Limited: High-End Features for Ultimate Performance

Whichever model you choose, you’ll be able to tackle any job you throw at it without flinching.

Transmission and 4 X 4 mode:

The choices offered are accessible via two separate, easy-to-access toggle controls.

CFMOTO UFORCE 1000: Robust Utility UTV for Tough Tasks

CFMOTO is no exception to the rule, and is also present on the utility side with their UFORCE range. There are several reasons to consider this model when shopping. A very reasonable price with a wide range of accessories included in the purchase versus the competition.

Powertrain:

The UFORCE is powered by a new 963 cm³ V-twin that delivers 79 horsepower and 60 lb-ft of torque. It’s a spirited engine that fires through the entire rev range. It’s powered by electronic fuel injection and paired with CFMOTO’s CVTech-IBC transmission.

4×4 mode, transmission and suspension:

The CVTech-IBC transmission offers high and low speed range, with excellent two- and four-wheel drive and electronic locking differential. This workhorse is equipped with four-wheel independent double-wishbone suspension with oil-filled shock absorbers. The shock absorbers can be adjusted to five different levels for a perfect fit with our driving style.

Interior and accessories:

It’s available in two versions: the XL is a 6-passenger or the regular three-passenger, either of which will be most comfortable on your travels. As usual, CFMOTO will deliver your UFORCE with lots of standard equipment, such as a 3500-lb. winch with remote control, rigid side door, aluminum wheels, and a practical two-inch front and rear hitch receiver. You’ll also find a horn, turn signals and handbrake. For night outings, it’s equipped with LED headlights. With a towing capacity of 2,000 lbs, plus a load capacity of 1,000 lbs inside the bed. It will be an excellent companion for the job.

Number four: Yamaha Viking

Yamaha Viking: Reliable and Durable Utility UTV
Yamaha Viking: Versatile UTV for All-Terrain Adventures

Not really surprising to find Yamaha among our top 5 utility vehicles. The Viking will get the job done without flinching, and will leave you wanting more for the next job you give it. Yamaha’s quality assembly will ensure a virtually indestructible utility vehicle.

Engines:

No matter which version of the Viking you choose, the engine remains the same: we’re talking about a 686 cm³ single-cylinder engine with wide-curve power. Electronic fuel injection and liquid cooling ensure constant engine performance. A four-valve head with 10.0:1 compression ensures optimum torque for optimal engine power in all circumstances.

Transmission, interior and suspension:

The Viking is equipped with the famous Ultramatic fully automatic CVT transmission with engine braking. The On-Command electrically selectable 4×4 system with full differential lock enables the Viking to cope with the worst conditions. Power steering provides a smooth ride with exemplary manoeuvrability worthy of Yamaha.

The interior remains modest but very comfortable, with easy access to controls and well-fitting bench seats. The middle passenger seat is set back five degrees to avoid shoulder and elbow contact.

Suspension: front and rear is independent double-wishbone, and the rear is independent with anti-roll bar.

Yamaha’s Viking will give you years of service thanks to its legendary reliability.

Numbers 5: Kawasaki PRO-FXR 1000 HD Mule

Kawasaki PRO-FXR 1000 HD Mule: Heavy-Duty Utility UTV
Kawasaki PRO-FXR 1000 HD Mule: High-Performance UTV for Rugged Work

Kawasaki has always been a major player in the industry, and is also present in the utility segment. Kawasaki’s Mule series is designed primarily for work, so if you’re looking for performance, forget it. The components are ultra-robust in their design, for the most solid quality in the business.

Engines:

This year, Kawasaki introduces a new 1000 cm³ engine. A parallel-twin with electronic fuel injection, it develops 69 horsepower and 61 lb-ft of torque.

Transmission, interior and suspension:

The engine’s power flows through a continuously variable transmission (CVT), coupled with an electrically selectable 2WD/4WD system and a bimodal locking rear differential. Power steering is standard on all Mule FX models. The three-passenger bench seat provides excellent comfort, yet the interior is spacious enough for the long working days for which it was designed.

Suspension is independent double-wishbone at the front, and exactly the same as independent double-wishbone at the rear.

Kawasaki has always designed excellent products of world-renowned quality, and it continues to do so.

In conclusion:

Whatever you choose from the list above, you’ll have made an excellent choice. The important thing is to clearly define your needs before investing in your purchase. Once you’ve done that, the choice will be much easier.

On that note, enjoy the ride and, above all, happy shopping!
