Several years ago, CFMOTO made its debut in Quebec. The company of both Chinese and Quebec origin is making its mark on the market in brilliant fashion. CFMOTO is the off-highway division of CMI (Canada Motors Importation), founded here in Quebec in 2005. The company is headquartered in Saint-Benoît in the Beauce region.
Season after season, the company’s strength lies in the standard equipment fitted to their vehicles. Our test vehicle, the CFORCE 600 Touring 2024, is a perfect example of this strategy, offering a combination of standard equipment and accessories that make it a top choice for off-road enthusiasts.
In the summer of 2023, we evaluated the CFORCE 600 Touring as part of our comparison of 600 cm3 two-seater quads. This was done alongside the Can-Am Outlander 700, Polaris 570 Sportsman Touring and Arctic Cat Alterra 600. The CForce 600 Touring came in third, with an extremely close second-place score. Among the highlights were the standard equipment, a highly ergonomic driving position and good rider protection in general.
A great look
We’ve mentioned it many times, but it’s such an important factor for the Beauce-based company that we can’t ignore it. Once again, all the standard equipment and small details make this a very functional and, above all, very pleasing vehicle to look at.
For several seasons now, we’ve been noticing the distinctive LED signature that embellishes the front of the CForce. This front end is also equipped with LED headlamps, which are highly efficient and worthy of mention, especially for those who like to go out at night.
The finish has been greatly improved over the years, with a perfect blend of body parts. The tubular front bumper
provides good protection for the front grille and light components. Continuing upwards. The large front luggage rack provides plenty of storage space with several attachment points. Last but not least, the large handguards are effective, and the mirrors, which are mandatory in Quebec, are also standard.
And at the center of it all is a large LCD screen, providing all the information the driver needs.
The side view features stylish 12-inch aluminum wheels with 8-inch front and 10-inch rear tires by AT.
Also noteworthy are the footrests for both passenger and rider. These provide good non-slip support for both occupants. They offer good splash protection, keeping your feet dry. At the rear, there’s a comfortable passenger bench with a backrest high enough for long rides.
The rear of the CFORCE maintains the same aesthetic and functional qualities. There’s a large luggage rack with a loading capacity of 40 kg, and a watertight rear trunk, ideal for safely stowing personal belongings.
These features reinforce the vehicle’s utility and practicality, allowing users to easily transport their belongings while enjoying a neat design.
Rounding off the package is a handsome LED light signature that adds to style and safety, as well as turn signals, also LED, that let you signal your direction to those behind you.
Powertrain
This 580 cm3 single-cylinder engine has a 91 mm bore and 89.2 mm stroke. It features electronic fuel injection that delivers the mixture via two intake valves. The same applies to the exhaust side, where two valves handle evacuation. The mill is liquid-cooled via a radiator located at the front of the vehicle. The result is a power output of 40 hp, on a par with other 600 cm3 engines in the industry.
Clutch
As in the past, CFMoto continues to place its trust in the Quebec company CVTech, well established for many years in the Beauce-Appalaches region. This company broke into the world of snowmobiling several seasons ago, shining brightly with its Power Block clutch. The concept used in these clutches is simple, highly effective and requires very little maintenance. The gear selector is well positioned, with notches for easy shifting from forward to reverse or other gears.
Suspension
On this side, we find a very standard configuration: the industry-familiar wishbone concept is used at both front and rear. On the damping side: gas-charged shock absorbers with springs whose preload is adjustable in five positions.
Trail test
Our road test covered some 500 km, on several types of trail, some rocky and some very sandy. I also had the chance to ride a few kilometers with a passenger, allowing us to test the rear position of the CFORCE 600 Touring.
Let’s start with powertrain performance. In this smaller-displacement category, buyers usually look for reliability and low fuel consumption before performance. That said, the CFORCE 600’s 40 hp is more or less on a par with other engines in the industry. Although a little less frisky, it’ll get you from point A to point B with low fuel consumption and pleasing performance that’s just right for this class.
It’s easy to recognize the quality of the CVTech clutch, which ensures unhesitating acceleration and very respectable acceleration for the mill’s power. Reliability is also an important factor.
Ergonomics are beyond reproach, for the rider with a pleasant riding position that will make your long days easier, and for the passenger with very good non-slip footrests and a well-positioned grip for the hands.
Our points for improvement:
- On the suspension side, we’d like a little more flexibility in the comfort zone, i.e. at the start of the stroke. This lack of suppleness causes jerky kickback at handlebar level when going over small bumps. This excessive firmness is reflected throughout the entire damping range.
- Another small point is the braking system. The rear wheels are braked via the right foot, while those at the front are controlled separately via the left handle; we’d like to see overall control in both places.
We liked:
- You’ll find over $2,800 worth of additional equipment on this vehicle. We’re talking about stylish wheels, a trailer hitch, a 3500-lb winch as standard, and not forgetting several options, such as side mirrors, hand guards, USB sockets, LED headlights, turn signals and even a horn, all of which are standard.
- The power steering is an interesting highlight, doing the job you’d expect it to do, making long days more enjoyable.
- The power steering is an interesting highlight, doing the job you’d expect it to do, making long days more enjoyable.
- And last but not least, a five-year or 5,000 km limited warranty on the powertrain, giving you significant peace of mind.
In conclusion, we’d like to thank CFMOTO for the loan of the CFORCE 600 Touring 2024.
