Its versatile Real World Tough design – purpose built for exploration, work, and play – features a comfortable two-person cab configuration, along with a newly designed 600-pound-rated piston-assist dump bed with an automotive-style single-hand operated tailgate, and impressive 2,000-pound towing capacity. No matter the adventure, both driver and passenger will enjoy the comfortable, quiet ride, which welcomes conversations at any RPM range thanks to the smooth, vibration-free power of the vehicle’s new 847-cc twin cylinder engine.

Yamaha’s driver-centric Real World Tech features include a new ultra-reliable and durable Ultramatic® continuously variable transmission (CVT), enhanced to accommodate more than 60 pounds-foot of torque, as well as Yamaha’s dependable, driver-controlled On-Command® four-wheel drive (4WD) system, and the industry’s foremost Electric Power Steering (EPS).

“The Wolverine X2 is the ultimate adventure package for recreational off-roading, combining Yamaha’s industry- leading durability and reliability with superior capability and versatility in a compact and nimble chassis,” said Mike Martinez, Yamaha’s ATV & SxS group vice president. “Yamaha extensively tested the new Wolverine X2 in real world scenarios to ensure is truly Proven Off-Road, as well as quiet and comfortable to suit the needs of everyone from seasoned trail-goers to first-time adventure-seekers.”

Capability: Proven Off-Road Performance in a Variety of Terrains and Conditions.

Leading the way in tight, technical terrain, the Wolverine X2 is powered by a new 847-cc DOHC, eight-valve, parallel twin-cylinder engine. Forged pistons and connecting rods ensure durable high-RPM performance, and Yamaha’s 270-degree crankshaft format allows linear torque development and excellent power throughout the RPM range.

Yamaha’s Wolverine X2 is built with industry-leading durability and dependability to handle the greatest variety of off-road situations. Yamaha’s exclusive Ultramatic transmission – the most advanced and durable CVT drive system available – has been redesigned to accommodate more than 60 pounds-foot of torque. A larger centrifugal clutch maintains constant belt tension, eliminating slipping and slamming of the belt when at idle or engaged, reducing heat and improving durability in high-torque situations. The one-way sprag clutch provides a natural-feeling all-wheel engine braking to eliminate “freewheeling” even in rough, technical terrain.

The Wolverine X2 also features Yamaha’s Real World Tech On-Command 4WD system, giving drivers complete control via the ability to switch between 2WD, limited-slip 4WD, and a fully locked differential 4WD. And Yamaha’s EPS delivers the industry’s best balance of steering assist and positive feedback from the terrain at any speed. Ultra-smooth power delivery and precise throttle response is achieved through the Yamaha Chip Controlled- Throttle (YCC-T®) drive-by-wire system. YCC-T also allows Yamaha’s Speed Management System, which limits the vehicle to a seamless top speed of 25-miles-per-hour by simply turning a (removable) key, making it ideal for new riders, work sites and other specialized operating conditions.

In addition to performance and the Speed Management System, the Wolverine X2 features a functional design for a variety of uses such as hunting, land, or homestead work. These features include an all-new 600-pound-rated dump bed with a new automotive-style one-hand operated tailgate, combined with 2,000 pounds of towing capacity.

Comfort: Optimized Driver / Rider Experience Including Isolation from Off-Road Elements.

The Wolverine X2 is one of the smoothest and quietest SxS vehicles ever built thanks in part to spiral- and helical-cut drivetrain gearing, its rubber-mounted and counterbalanced engine, and a variety of noise- and vibration-reducing features, allowing the driver and passenger the ability to hold a conversation at any RPM range.

The two-person occupant-centric cab features high-backed seats, each with shoulder bolsters and automotive- style three-point seat belts. Additional cab comforts include high-traction floorboards, and both an easily adjustable driver seat and steering column. A low, narrow dash and shoulder height maximize visibility for both driver and passenger while sitting comfortably in the seat, and the doors and large fenders separate the cabin from the elements.

The new LCD digital meter features a large dimmable display, with speedometer, odometer, trip and hour meters, along with vehicle status and warning displays.

With an upswept underbody design, wide arc A-arms, and an overall 11-inches of ground clearance, the all-new Wolverine X2 boasts ideal approach and departure angles to comfortably traverse a variety of terrain. Additionally, the Wolverine X2 is equipped with independent double-wishbone suspension, providing 8.7 inches of preload- adjustable travel in front and 8.9 inches in the rear, for excellent handling-feel and bump absorption.
Confidence: Superior Durability / Reliability and Build Quality for Secure Ride-Feeling and Ease of Ownership.

Yamaha designs, engineers and tests its SxS vehicles in the Real World. The Wolverine X2 is assembled with pride in Newnan, Georgia, and delivers the durability, reliability and superior build quality off-road enthusiasts have come to expect from Yamaha.
